Color Your World!

Your Universe is all about energy. When you are synchronized with the energy around you, you truly FEEL better.  That’s why understanding the Moon transits are so important as they color our world with a different energy as Moon dances through her monthly cycle.

I’ll be packing this morning getting ready for a three day run to the city and leave shortly after writing this blog.  When I understand Moon energy while I’m away, it is easy to decide on what clothes to take.  I learned a long time ago that if I would wear the colors of the Moon sign shifting through the heavens, I simply feel a whole lot better.  That’s the mind-body-spirit-emotion connection.  For example today, the Moon is in Leo so if I wear red, then I will be synchronized with that Leo fire energy.  However, tomorrow the Moon shifts to Virgo, so some shade of green is more appropriate.  Simple.  I pack two colors then.

Last year I tried to be efficient with packing for the 2 weeks we were away on holidays.  I took only my two favorite colors of pink and blue.  It was a disastrous experiment that I will never repeat.  I felt uneasy many days, for no good reason other than the colors, I was wearing were not in synchronization with the Moon’s glow.  This year, I know at the very least, I have to have colors that go with fire, earth, air and water.

I’m hearing some of you nay sayers, telling me I’ve totally lost my mind marbles.  Most of you are men.  So you especially need to listen up and learn.  People are ultra sensitive to color when they don’t even know it.  Psychologists have known this for years.  Whole businesses have developed around the color industry as a result.  Here’s what we know to be true.

Just wearing a color next to the skin changes a person’s demeanor.  Having someone sit on a specific color, changes their behavior.  For example, most fast food restaurants have brightly painted reds and oranges on the walls and on their seats.  Why?  Well people get antsy with red and orange so they won’t stay in the restaurant very long.  That helps turn over customers more quickly.   Most modern day prisons have learned to use pink walls where the prisoners are likely to congregate the most.  Why? Because pink literally softens people and calms them down. They become less aggressive.  So real men can wear pink!

My hubby and I are high energy people shimmering with red fiery energy.  I have colored our entire house to be in different shades of blues, greens and purples.  Why?  So that when we are home we are totally in calm, relaxation mode.  Reds, oranges and yellows just turn us on and spins us around so that we are zooming with our thoughts and with our actions.  I won’t even allow red orange or yellow flowers in the house!  If I have to be extra assertive, I wear red.  Watch out for those Red Hat Society ladies!

Now you ask me and I tell you it has to do with energy.  Each color vibrates with a different frequency.  Each color is attached to your chi energy or your chakra energy.  Even by carrying crystals in your pocket with the color of the day will help you be on your way to being in synchronization with the Moon energy.  Men, your shirts and ties will do it for you!  For heaven’s sake watch out for the color of your underwear!

Now that you understand people’s psychological underpinnings, Color your world with the Moon’s flow.  You’ll be happier when you do!  Oh yah … Moments of Color Joy!

Reflection Questions!

  1.  Do a one month Lunar Cycle test and see how the Moon shift in color affects your behavior and feelings.

Affirmations and Intentions:  I intend to wear colors in synchronization with the energy flow of today.

When you’re ‘happy for no reason,’

you bring happiness to your everyday experiences

rather than try to extract happiness from them.

It’s not that your life always looks perfect –

it’s that however it looks, you’ll still be happy!”

God Don’t Make Junk

I’m sorry that I don’t have the first verse to this poem.  I use this particularly with Special Needs kids over the years.  I thought this might be of value to some of you.

God don't make junk

Victims, Soul Vampires & Quicksand

Don’t get caught up in the emotional quicksand of people who choose to remain victims.  They are trying to suck you in and indeed are soul vampires.

A number of years ago I had a dream that clearly pointed out to me one person who had taken up huge chunks of my time.  I was trying to “rescue her” when she simply refused to do any work on herself.  The dream helped me to understand that.  It seems I’m a slow learner, as I had to go through every season of the year before I learned my lesson.

Here it is.

I was walking through my favorite forest one fine spring day and heard a call for help.  I quickly walked along the animal highway until I came to a nearby pool.  On the edge of the pool there was a wonderful woman floundering and yelling for help.  She was mired in the quicksand that I knew was in only one tiny part of the pond.  I reached down with my hands and pulled her out.  I explained the quicksand was only at that one small part of the pool.  She could avoid it by going into the pool at any other spot.

I was walking through my favorite forest one fine summer day and heard a call for help.  I quickly walked along the animal highway until I came to a nearby pool.  On the edge of the pool there was a lovely lady floundering and yelling for help.  She was mired in the quicksand that I knew was in only one tiny part of the pond.  I gave her the tools of branches so she could pull herself out.  I explained the quicksand was only at that one small part of the pool.  She could avoid it by going into the pool at any other spot.

I was walking through my favorite forest one fine autumn day and heard a call for help.  I quickly walked along the animal highway until I came to a nearby pool.  On the edge of the pool there was the same adult woman floundering and yelling for help.  She was mired in the quicksand that I knew was in only one tiny part of the pond.  I taught her to use the tools of branches so she could pull herself out and avoid going near the quicksand.  I explained the quicksand was only at that one small part of the pool.  She could avoid it by going into the pool at any other spot.

I was walking through my favorite forest one fine winter day and heard a call for help.  I quickly walked along the animal highway until I came to a nearby pool.  On the edge of the pool there was the same silly woman floundering and yelling for help.  She was mired in the quicksand that I knew was in only one tiny part of the pond.  She was cold, she was frightened as she had not learned to go near the quicksand.  I told her to learn her lessons and walked away.  I didn’t feel I needed to go round the yearly circle rescuing  a person who truly did not want to be rescued because she refused to use her own knowingness and skills.

Reflection Questions:

1.  Are you a rescuer?

2.  Are you a victim?

3.  Why did you choose either of those roles in life?

4.  How are you going to choose to change?

Be wary of the energy you are putting out there.  Are you attracting angels to your world or soul vampires?

ADHD, Behavior Problems & Plants

Kids and adults with ADHD or other jittery focus problems can be helped by plants.  As a specialist with severe behaviorial kids, I searched for any ways I could find to help the kids manage their own “out-of-control” behaviors.  You see their brain wiring differs from the regular population.  The kids know it, but often adults are not aware of this.

In the last school I worked in before I retired, we had a small greenhouse. I taught my staff to help the kids to take control of their behaviors through various behavior modification techniques. I found that when a child was agitated for whatever reason, if a staff member took that child to the green house, they would soon calm down.  We had mats on the floor and it seemed that if the child could sit on the mat, or lay on the mat, the child would calm down much more quickly. In essence they were being closer to the earth.

We then could discuss where that specific problem started and how the child could monitor their own body reaction to what sometimes was an emotional trigger.  Sometimes, it was because they had eaten too much sugar or junk food.  Other times it was due to something someone said to them on the play ground.  In other words, we were trying to have the child understand their triggers, understand their body signals and begin to take control of their own reactions.  We gave the kids life skills for managing their own behavior.

The bottom line is, when a person is agitated, there is something in plants that helps to calm them down.  Can I explain what that something is?  Is there research to support it?  Good questions.  I’m not sure there is conclusive research.  However, I have found with extreme behavioral teens, when they are in extreme anger mode, if they have the opportunity to “hug a tree” for 5 minutes, they calm down immensely.  Ten years later, some of my teens are now adults and tell me they still use this technique to help them.  I also have talked to Greenhouse owners who tell me of how mothers will come in with kids who are crying or screaming even.  Within a very few minutes, the kids calm down. The mothers will calm down and all is a much better quality of life in their world.

Similarly, taking a walk outside in a garden or going to a campground which has lots of trees and natural life calms people down.  Why do you enjoy taking holidays to either the mountains, the ocean or a park?  These can be Your sacred Safe Places on earth. The positive energy of green growing things cannot be denied.  Sometimes I believe the angels and fairies must live among the plants!  Read the Secret Life of Plants, or one of the books about Scotland’s Findhorn Community and you will be amazed!

Affirmations and Intentions:

I intend to take a walk in nature to renew and refresh my spirit.

Wee!  Slide down a rainbow on your magic carpet!

4 Lessons Live Life with No Regrets

Honor yourself. Honor your intuition. Honor your feelings. When you choose to live life honoring your feelings, you choose to live life with no regrets.

Many years ago, I lived a life full of hidden emotions.  I didn’t want anyone to know how I felt and learned to adopt a poker face so that no one could read my emotions.  I was the person everyone else turned to with their raw emotions and their problems.  I was unable to share my own.  After all, I was supposed to be the strong one for everyone else.  How wrong I was.  I did not honor my own feelings!

As a result of keeping myself tightly bound up in my cocoon of emotional protection, neither the bad feelings nor the good feelings could leak out into the outer world.  What lessons I had to learn!  Along came an angel friend who gently guided me to the loving world of Leo Buscaglia when she gave me his book Love.  There were several lessons for me to learn.  You see, others perceive me as striding forward confidently throughout life.  Inside myself, I was a quivering mass of jello fears, shaking that someone might discover the truth of who I truly was.  As a result I lived with plenty of regrets at not telling people in person how I honestly felt about them.  Oh I wanted to, but I was so afraid of their reaction.  I held back and stayed in my fear cocoon.

So here are the four main lessons I learned from Leo Buscaglia that may helped me on my journey.

4 Lessons to Live a Loving Life

  1. Love myself enough to honor my feelings.
  2. When I care for someone, to tell them I care for them.
  3. When I need a reassuring hug, hug someone else so we both feel great!
  4. Tell everyone you care about specifically what they mean to your world.

The last one is kinda like the warm fuzzies.  If someone has done something that gives me the warm fuzzies, I tell them I appreciate them for doing ___.  They feel good.  I feel good.  Win-win energy to go around!  My wise father used to say “You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.”  Fortunately I learned those lessons well decades ago.  When people have left the earth to become angels, I know in my heart I have told them exactly what they have meant to me.  I live life with no regrets.

That’s how you feed your own energy and that’s how you help to feed others positive energy.  We all need to be needed.  We all need to be appreciated.  We all need to hear that others are grateful for something we have done for them.  Therefore we need to let others know when we are grateful.  Allow yourself to experience the joy in life you so richly deserve.  You see this grows your happiness and joy bubble of bliss!  So be an angel to someone in your world every day!

Reflection Questions!

  1.  Did you smile at yourself in the mirror today?
  2. Tell yourself at least four ways you already experience joy and happiness in your life.
  3. Who needs to hear that you love and appreciate them?
  4. Who in your world needs a hug?

Affirmations and Intentions:  I intend to honor my feelings.  I intend to live a life with no regrets.

To love others, you must first love yourself ….

You can only give to others

what you have given to yourself.

(Leo Buscaglia)

Fear & Eagle Egg Parenting

Eagles soar

Eagles soar

Soar with the eagles or scratch around with the chickens on the ground.  It’s scary flying into the unknown and new beginnings.  It could be a new job, a new house, a new career or a new location.  It’s always scary to step into the unknown.  That is a normal human reaction to anything new.  While we may be thrilled and exhilarated, underneath is the drumbeat of fear.  We all feel this fundamental fear.    We are stepping out of the Sacred Safe Place we have created.

New Beginning

New Beginning

My friend is starting out on a new business venture.  The seeds or egg of this idea was hatched some months ago.  She has to leave all she has known all her life behind and travel thousands of miles to begin a totally new life for her.  She is terrified.  Hooray!  That is perfectly normal!  Here is the note that I wrote to her.

Leaders Food

Leaders Food

We are so proud of how far you have chosen to come to date.  I feel like we are eagle parents hatching an egg with you!  We are fussing more and worrying more about you than we have done over any of our other “kids”.  But then you see, that is love.  We love you enough to want to see you emerge from that egg, strengthen you wings and fly on your own when you are ready.  Until that time, like great bird parents, you will be under our eagle eye.

Come to the edge.

We can’t, we are afraid.

Come to the edge.

We can’t, we will fall.

And they came to the edge.

And he pushed them.

And they flew.

(Guillaume Apollinaire)

Sometimes as family, friends, extended family or partners we truly have to understand that fear is a normal response.   If you reframe the fear and treatempower them with the confidence to grow.  Then and only then will they be able to fly with the confidence of an eagle!  Help empower people you love to change the energy around them

!

Reflection Questions!

  1.  Who needs my support to take that first step out of their comfortable nest?
  2. How can I help them to understand their fear is a normal feeling.
  3. Where can I show them love and confidence instead?
  4. Do you fly with the eagles or walk around with the chickens?

Affirmations and Intentions:  I intend to fly with success in all my adventures.  I intend to soar with my ideals and ideas.  I intend to have the courage of a fearless eagle.

If you think you can or

if you think you can’t,

You’re right.

(Henry Ford)

Rules Who Needs Them?

What’s the answer to that question?   I know someone who carries an imaginary backpack.  It’s filled with phantom books the size of the phone books you get in any major city.  Each of those books is filled with rules for every situation in the universe.  What a heavy load for this person to carry!

It amazes me that this person invents a rule for every situation he comes upon.  Now perhaps it’s because he’s Virgo Moon.  Perhaps it’s because he has a retrograde Mercury.  Whatever the reason, before he takes any action or says anything, he mentally goes flipping through all these imaginary books to find out what the rule is in this particular situation.  So if you meet him and he is hesitating to answer you, or is slow to respond, understand that he mentally is flipping through all these rule books frantically looking for the answer on how to proceed in this situation you are discussing

Why this amazes me is that I have invented my own rules for living since I was 2 years of age.  I never look to anyone else’s rule, but determine what single rule I choose to live by.  I have to look myself in the mirror every day.  So I have to live with my own conscience.

So my rule always is,

“Will I be able to live with the outcome of this situation

tomorrow or

a week from now or

a year from now, or

for the rest of my life?

From my second year of teaching until I retired I gave this poem to every group of teens I worked with.  Teenagers as they feel their way through life are opposed to rules and restrictions of any kind.  These words led to some great discussions about why SOME rules are necessary.  It may help some of you out with the people in your household.

Rules by Rod McKuen in Watch for the Wind

I wish the rules for everything

Were printed in the daily paper,

Spelled out on billboards 10 feet high

Or taught to us in school.

Reading, writing and arithmetic and RULES

Not needed to pass the course

But to get us through

Our allotted time here.

Reflection Questions!

  1.  What rule book do you follow?
  2. What is your main rule in life?
  3. What rules are not necessary?
  4. Why do we have rules of any kind?

Affirmations and Intentions:  I intend to follow my own rules in life, harming no person and seeking harmony.

Let’s increase the Love and vibrant energy of the planet!

Hugs and love from the Universe.
