Fear & Eagle Egg Parenting

Eagles soar

Eagles soar

Soar with the eagles or scratch around with the chickens on the ground.  It’s scary flying into the unknown and new beginnings.  It could be a new job, a new house, a new career or a new location.  It’s always scary to step into the unknown.  That is a normal human reaction to anything new.  While we may be thrilled and exhilarated, underneath is the drumbeat of fear.  We all feel this fundamental fear.    We are stepping out of the Sacred Safe Place we have created.

New Beginning

New Beginning

My friend is starting out on a new business venture.  The seeds or egg of this idea was hatched some months ago.  She has to leave all she has known all her life behind and travel thousands of miles to begin a totally new life for her.  She is terrified.  Hooray!  That is perfectly normal!  Here is the note that I wrote to her.

We are so proud of how far you have chosen to come to date.  I feel like we are eagle parents hatching an egg with you!  We are fussing more and worrying more about you than we have done over any of our other “kids”.  But then you see, that is love.  We love you enough to want to see you emerge from that egg, strengthen you wings and fly on your own when you are ready.  Until that time, like great bird parents, you will be under our eagle eye.

Come to the edge.

We can’t, we are afraid.

Come to the edge.

We can’t, we will fall.

And they came to the edge.

And he pushed them.

And they flew.

(Guillaume Apollinaire)

Sometimes as family, friends, extended family or partners we truly have to understand that fear is a normal response.   If you reframe the fear and treatempower them with the confidence to grow.  Then and only then will they be able to fly with the confidence of an eagle!  Help empower people you love to change the energy around them

!

Reflection Questions!

  1.  Who needs my support to take that first step out of their comfortable nest?
  2. How can I help them to understand their fear is a normal feeling.
  3. Where can I show them love and confidence instead?
  4. Do you fly with the eagles or walk around with the chickens?

Affirmations and Intentions:  I intend to fly with success in all my adventures.  I intend to soar with my ideals and ideas.  I intend to have the courage of a fearless eagle.

If you think you can or

if you think you can’t,

You’re right.

(Henry Ford)

Thanks Merlin. Actually I’ve had so little response that I’ve slowed down in writing for this blog since I do put a lot of effort into each piece I write. Many blessings!
